Students in the third grade are totally engaged in learning.  They integrate visual art, drama, writing and technology throughout the day.  Using the new Apple computers, students make math tutorials for other students and
ebooks of some of their writing.  They also use computers for planning and revising. Their learning is anchored in art. They analyze works of art, make inferences and use images to both visualize and create characters, settings and events.  Through drama they create tableaus, or frozen scenes, to reveal a deeper understanding across the curriculum.  Reading is supported through classroom libraries that are full of leveled books to engage all stages of readers. The third grade teachers work collaboratively with each other and the Arts Coaches provided for us through our CETA program with the Kennedy Center, Changing Education Through the Arts.
