Office of Assessment
The Assessment Office is responsible for administering, supervising and/or coordinating the testing program. Testing data are collected, analyzed and disseminated to the public, Arlington Public Schools (APS) staff, and the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).
Our Office
- Coordinates and administers state and local testing program (e.g., SOL Assessments, ACCESS for ELL's, Stanford Achievement Test, and Degrees of Reading Power)--including distributing test materials, results, and information to schools; training of school test coordinators on administration and score interpretation; monitoring administration; scoring and working with external scoring contractors.
- Manages test data in student information system; analyzes and reports testing data including SAT, ACT, IB and Advanced Placement testing programs; assists schools with managing and using test results .
- Manages use of Education Information Management System (Virginia's state-wide data collection and reporting system); creates and manages accounts for personnel trained to use the system; manages error resolution of student records.
- Division liaison with VDOE Division of Student Assessment and School Improvement; assures APS compliance with state and federal testing policy and procedures.
- Delivers workshops and training on testing and assessment issues for school-based and central office staff.
